ICT for Smart and Sustainable Living

The cluster intends to place the environment and the human being at the centre of design and technological development processes. It aims to create intelligent and sustainable environments where life acquires quality, safety and well-being. These environments mainly include the home, the urban environment and the workplace. They will be interconnected and autonomously support people, especially the frailest categories, such as the elderly and disabled, in different daily activities. The user-centred design is at the base of this cluster's approach. The development strategy aims at the massive use of key enabling technologies related to ICT and micro- and nano-electronics to implement distributed technological systems, designed with modular, intelligent and interconnected elements, capable of dialoguing and interacting with each other.
