Veneto Region submits for the Innovation Valley Initiative

The Veneto Region submitted in September an expression of interest to be recognised in the Innovation Valley Initiative

Under the New European Innovation Agenda, the Regional Innovation Valley initiative aims to harness the potential of deep-tech innovation across the different EU territories, and addresses the innovation divide.  It has set the ambitious goal to identify up to 100 regions committed to enhance the coordination and direction of their research and innovation investment and policies, at regional level and to collaborate on inter-regional innovation projects including in deep tech innovation, linked to key EU priorities. The initiative is endorsed by the European Committee of the Regions.

Obtaining recognition will allow the Region to exploit the advantages deriving from European interregional collaboration in the coming years to carry out shared actions capable of:

-improve the transfer of research results to the market;
-support the creation and consolidation of innovative businesses and start-ups;
-improve access to cross-border infrastructure and skills;
-develop new standards and regulations.
Furthermore, it will allow the Veneto system to access further resources dedicated to this purpose within European programs which have already made their support actions available on the topic, also enhancing the Region’s current participation in the Partnerships for Regional Innovation pilot project – PRI promoted by the European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions (CdR).
